Digitel has officially launched South Sudan’s first-ever
E-SIM service, ushering in a new chapter of digital connectivity in the
country. The milestone event, held on April 11, 2025, marks a significant
breakthrough in telecom innovation, enabling customers to activate mobile
services without the need for a physical SIM card.
The E-SIM (Embedded Subscriber Identity Module) is a game-changer in mobile technology. Built directly into compatible devices, it allows users to switch between networks, activate new lines, and manage multiple profiles, all digitally and without the hassle of swapping SIM cards. Digitel’s introduction of this service reflects the company’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve and delivering future-ready solutions to the South Sudanese market.

The launch event brought together industry experts, technology enthusiasts, and business leaders, all of whom praised the E-SIM initiative as a critical step toward modernizing the country’s telecommunications landscape. In his remarks, Digitel Executive Vice President, Athiei De Chan Awuol, emphasized the importance of innovation in expanding access and convenience for users in a mobile-first society. “This is more than just a new product, it’s a platform for possibilities,” he said. “With E-SIM, we’re giving our customers greater freedom, better control, and seamless experiences that align with global standards.”

The benefits of E-SIM technology are far-reaching. For
frequent travelers, switching between networks without visiting a service
center is now a reality. For businesses, it offers a scalable and flexible
solution for managing devices remotely. For the everyday user, it simply means
more convenience and better efficiency.
To activate an E-SIM on Digitel’s network, customers can
visit any Digitel service center or scan a QR code provided by the company. The
activation process is quick, secure, and fully digital. Supported devices
include the latest smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches from major global
brands.
As Digitel continues to drive innovation, the E-SIM launch stands as proof of the company’s dedication to connecting South Sudan with the rest of the world through technology. It’s a leap forward for the telecom sector and a promise of more transformative services to come.
